i am pregnant and i posted a question earlier asking if i could have an absessed tooth pulled while pregnant so now i know i can the only problem now is that the only insurance i have is pregnancy medicaid because the cost for a young female to have insurance where i live is outrageous where i live. i have pregnancy medicaid so i am assuming that i will have to pay for this to be done, do you know then general cost of having an absessed tooth pulled? it does have to be pulled my prior dentist said i would need to go to an oral surgeon to have it done? any idea of what it would cost? thank you!In the state where I live, pregnancy medicaid will pay for anything that may be or is harmful to the fetus. This tooth sounds like it could be harmful if not addressed quickly. You can call Medicaid and ask them what they cover in terms of dental care and explain to them your situation. Going to the dentist, x-ray, extraction, etc. will cost at least $200.... $75 for exam, $25 for x-ray, and $100 for the extraction.... this is just an estimate. My mother works in a hospital and recently took me to get my tooth pulled this is what she says: you need to see your ob doctor for antibiotics for the abscess before you see an oral surgeon so the infection will not get worse, especially if you are pregnant, and you can call different oral surgeons to get an estimate amount of what you will be paying, or your ob doctor might be able to suggest where to go, also try a board of health clinic they are usually free services government sponsered or some dental schools also may be able to help, such as the university medical center, or perhaps apply for temporary public medical assistance usually given to people with no insurance and call 1800-dentists to see who accepts public assistance insurance for extraction.
